GYXTC8S Outdoor Cable
The GYXTC8S Outdoor Cable is a figure-8 self-supporting fiber optic cable designed for aerial deployment in long-haul and access communication networks. With its integrated steel wire messenger and robust armoring construction, this cable delivers exceptional mechanical strength, environmental resilience, and long-term reliability for outdoor telecommunications infrastructure.
Construction & Design
The GYXTC8S Outdoor Cable features a central loose tube design. Optical fibers (250μm) are housed within a high-modulus plastic loose tube filled with a water-resistant filling compound that provides critical protection against moisture and mechanical stress. A double-sided coated steel tape (PSP) is longitudinally applied over the loose tube, with water-blocking materials placed between the steel tape and the tube to ensure compactness and longitudinal water tightness. This assembly, together with stranded steel wires serving as the self-supporting member, is completed with a polyethylene (PE) sheath to form the distinctive figure-8 structure.
The cable complies with standard YD/T 1155-2001 and IEC 60794-1.
Key Features & Advantages
Self-Supporting Figure-8 Design – The integrated steel wire messenger provides excellent tensile strength and enables aerial installation without the need for separate messenger strands, significantly reducing installation costs and time.
Superior Mechanical Performance – The steel tape armoring and stranded wire construction deliver outstanding resistance to tensile loads, crush pressure, and impact, while also providing protection against rodent attack and gunshot damage.
Full-Section Waterproofing – Water-blocking materials and filling compound throughout the cable structure ensure reliable longitudinal water resistance, making the cable suitable for diverse outdoor environments.
UV-Resistant Polyethylene Sheath – The PE outer jacket offers excellent resistance to ultraviolet radiation, ensuring long-term durability in direct sunlight exposure.
Wide Operating Temperature Range – The cable performs reliably across extreme temperatures from -40°C to +70°C, ensuring stable operation in diverse climatic conditions.
Long Service Life – Designed for a service life of over 25 years, with some models rated for up to 30 years.
Applications
The GYXTC8S Outdoor Cable is widely deployed in:
Long-distance and interoffice communication backbone networks
Metropolitan area networks (MAN) and access networks (FTTx)
Rural telephone and urban relay systems
CATV and computer network transmission systems
Aerial distribution lines across roads, yards, and rural spans

FAQ
Q1: What is the maximum fiber count available for GYXTC8S cable?
The GYXTC8S cable is typically available with 2 to 24 fiber cores. Custom configurations may be available upon request from manufacturers.
Q2: What fiber types are compatible with this cable?
The cable supports single-mode fibers including G.652D and G.657A, as well as multi-mode options such as OM1, OM2, OM3, and OM4.
Q3: Can this cable be installed in extreme weather conditions?
Yes. The GYXTC8S cable operates reliably within a temperature range of -40°C to +70°C and features UV-resistant PE sheath for prolonged sunlight exposure.
Q4: What is the recommended bending radius during installation?
The dynamic (installation) bending radius should be at least 20 times the cable diameter, while the static (in-service) bending radius should be at least 10 times the cable diameter.
Q5: How does the figure-8 design benefit aerial installation?
The integrated messenger wire eliminates the need for separate support strands, allowing the cable to be suspended directly from poles or towers. This reduces hardware requirements, simplifies installation, and lowers overall deployment costs.
