GYFTZY Fiber Optic Cable – Product Specification Sheet
The GYFTZY is an outdoor loose-tube, layer-stranded, all-dielectric, non-armored flame-retardant fiber optic cable. Designed for aerial and duct installation, it is widely deployed in telecommunications backbone networks, power substations, urban infrastructure, and high-EMI environments where fire safety and lightning protection are critical.
Cable Nomenclature
The designation GYFTZY decodes as: GY – outdoor communication cable; F – non-metallic strength member; T – filled water-blocking structure; Z – flame-retardant; Y – polyethylene (LSZH) sheath.
Construction & Design
The cable is constructed by housing 250μm optical fibers (single-mode or multi-mode) into high-modulus PBT loose tubes filled with a thixotropic waterproof compound. A central FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) non-metallic strength member provides robust tensile support. The loose tubes and filler rods are stranded around this central member in a compact SZ-lay circular configuration. All interstices within the core are filled with water-blocking compound, ensuring full-section moisture protection. Finally, a low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) flame-retardant outer sheath is extruded over the core.
Key Features
All-Dielectric Construction: No metallic components – immune to lightning strikes and electromagnetic interference; requires no grounding.
Superior Flame Retardancy: LSZH sheath delivers low smoke emission, zero halogen, non-toxic combustion byproducts, and excellent fire resistance.
Excellent Mechanical Performance: High tensile strength (up to 1500N short-term / 600N long-term), good crush resistance (up to 1000N/100mm short-term), and outstanding flexibility.
Full-Section Waterproofing: Multiple protection layers – tube filling gel, core water-blocking compound, and robust outer sheath – ensure long-term moisture resistance.
Wide Temperature Range: Reliable operation from -40°C to +70°C.
Lightweight & Flexible: Easy handling and installation with minimum bending radius of 10D (static) / 20D (dynamic).

FAQ
Q1: What does "all-dielectric" mean and why does it matter?
It means the cable contains no metal components. This eliminates the risk of lightning strikes and electromagnetic interference, making it ideal for power substations, high-voltage corridors, and areas with strong EMI without requiring grounding.
Q2: Can GYFTZY cable be installed both aerially and in ducts?
Yes. The cable is specifically designed for both aerial (with proper support) and duct installation. Its lightweight construction and excellent mechanical strength make it suitable for both methods.
Q3: What is the difference between GYFTZY and GYFTY?
The "Z" in GYFTZY denotes a flame-retardant LSZH sheath, while GYFTY uses a standard PE sheath. GYFTZY offers superior fire safety with low smoke and zero halogen emissions.
Q4: What fiber counts are available?
GYFTZY cables are available from 2 cores up to 288 cores, with custom configurations available upon request.
Q5: What is the recommended bending radius during installation?
The minimum bending radius is 20 times the cable outer diameter during installation (dynamic) and 10 times the cable outer diameter after installation (static).
