Outdoor Fiber Optic Communication Cable
Engineered for the Outdoors, End to End
An outdoor fiber optic communication cable is the backbone of any network that leaves the building - the link that carries voice, data, and video between cities, campuses, substations, and cell sites. Unlike indoor cables that live in protected environments, this cable is designed from the ground up to keep signals clean and stable while buried underground, strung on poles, or pulled through conduits for decades.
The core of the cable is a set of single-mode fibers, each protected by gel-filled loose tubes, wrapped in strength members, moisture barriers, and a tough UV-stabilized polyethylene outer jacket. The result is a cable that shrugs off rain, frost, sun, rodents, and the occasional careless excavator - and still delivers predictable performance at year 1 and year 25 alike.
Surviving the Elements
Temperature swings. From -40°C winters to +70°C summer ducts, the loose-tube design lets fibers expand and contract freely inside their gel-filled tubes, so thermal stress never translates into signal loss.
Water and humidity. A water-blocking core and moisture-resistant sheath stop ingress before it reaches the fibers - the single biggest cause of premature failure in underground links.
UV and ozone. The PE outer jacket is UV-stabilized, so aerial sections won't crack, fade, or become brittle after years of direct sunlight.
Rodents and termites. Optional steel tape or steel wire armoring protects against gnawing - a real threat in rural and tropical deployments.
Mechanical abuse. Strength members plus armor deliver high tensile strength for pulling and crush resistance for direct burial, reducing the risk of damage during installation and later excavation work.
Wind and vibration. In aerial spans, the cable's balanced construction and low sag under load keep fibers stable through storms, galloping lines, and everyday thermal cycling - no micro-interruptions from swaying spans.
Applications Across Your Network Footprint
Inter-city and metro backbone links connecting exchange offices and data centers.
FTTH/FTTB feeder routes carrying hundreds of homes' traffic from the central office to street cabinets.
Mobile backhaul between base stations and the core network, including 4G and 5G sites.
Campus and industrial park backbones where long distances demand low-loss single-mode links.
Utility and transportation corridors - power grids, railways, and highways where reliable telemetry matters.
Why Teams Choose This Cable
Decades of dependable service. Designed for a 25-year service life, keeping the cost per year of operation remarkably low.
One spec, many installations. The same cable works for duct, direct burial, and aerial use - a single SKU simplifies procurement and site inventories.
Fast, familiar installation. Standard loose-tube construction is well understood by splicing crews everywhere, keeping labor costs predictable.
Future-proof capacity. Available from 4 to 288 cores, so you can light fibers today and scale bandwidth later without re-cabling.
Full compliance. Manufactured to IEC 60794 and ITU-T G.652D/G.657A, with CE, RoHS, and ISO 9001 certification available on request.

FAQ
Q1: How long will this cable actually last outdoors?
A: Under proper installation, the cable is designed for a 25-year service life. Field data from aerial and buried installations shows stable attenuation well within spec for two decades and beyond when bend radii and burial depth follow the datasheet.
Q2: What temperature range can it withstand?
A: Standard outdoor cables operate from -40°C to +70°C, with installation allowed down to -10°C for most jacket grades. For extreme cold regions, we can supply special low-temperature jacket versions.
Q3: Do I need rodent protection?
A: In urban conduit systems, typically not. In rural, agricultural, or tropical sites where rodents and termites are common, we recommend steel tape or steel wire armor - tell us the site conditions and we'll advise.
Q4: What accessories do I need to complete the link?
A: Besides the cable itself, you'll need splice closures, patch panels or ODFs, and pigtails or patch cords. We supply the full accessory set as a bundle, and can pre-terminate cable runs on request to save on-site splicing time.
Q5: What warranty and documentation come with the cable?
A: Standard warranty is 20 years against manufacturing defects. Every reel ships with an OTDR test report, a quality certificate, and batch traceability records - so your project documentation is audit-ready.
