Product Data Sheet: ASU Custom Span Fiber Optic Cable
Product Overview
ASU Custom Span Fiber Optic Cable, often referred to as Mini-ADSS, is a compact, lightweight aerial cable engineered for short-to-medium span installations. Unlike traditional cables that require a separate steel messenger wire for support, the ASU is entirely self-supporting. Its all-dielectric construction-containing zero metallic components-makes it immune to lightning strikes and electromagnetic interference, ensuring signal integrity even when installed along high-voltage power lines.

FAQ
Q1: What is the maximum span distance for this ASU cable?
A1: Our standard custom spans are designed for up to 120 meters. For specific project requirements, configurations are available for 80m and 100m spans. Exceeding this distance would require a traditional ADSS cable with different tensile ratings.
Q2: How does this compare to a standard steel figure-8 cable?
A2: While figure-8 cables might be cheaper in materials, they require grounding on every pole and are susceptible to corrosion and induced currents from power lines. Our ASU is all-dielectric, requires no grounding, and is immune to corrosion and electromagnetic interference.
Q3: What customization options are available?
A3: We offer full OEM services. You can customize fiber type (Singlemode/Multimode), core count, sheath material (PE or Anti-Tracking AT), and even the cable's printing and packaging per your project requirements.
Q4: Does the cable require special fittings for installation?
A4: No. The compact design uses standard, simple attachment hardware. Its lightweight nature (approx. 40kg/km) allows for much faster installation than heavier armored cables and does not require heavy dead-end hardware.
Q5: How is the cable protected against moisture ingress?
A5: The cable utilizes a water-blocking strategy in two ways: the loose tubes are filled with a special filling compound (gel) to prevent water migration, and the cable core is layered with water-blocking yarns to ensure a fully watertight seal.
