Commonly made from polyethylene (PE) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC), it provides waterproofing, moisture resistance, UV protection, corrosion resistance, and rodent bite resistance. For cables used in special environments, the jacket may also feature flame retardancy and high/low temperature resistance.

 

Filler Material: Located between the optical fiber and the sheath, it serves as a waterproof barrier and shock absorber. This prevents moisture intrusion into the fiber and reduces the impact of external forces on the fiber.
